It's not a damn distraction. It's just all happening at the same time. That's what happens when you elect a dumb-as-rocks madman to be the leader of the world's biggest superpower. They destroy as much as possible as quickly as possible, and they came in this time with a plan.

I don't know. I don't have the answers either, and we don't actually know what's going to have what kind of historical impact. I just know someone has to reach these people and dems don't even try because they *are* the status quo.

Lol and yet any attempt to hold democrats to a higher standard is rejected wholesale by the vast majority of dems. I'm no stranger to higher standards. I just happen to think reaching the target audience might be a better long term investment than whatever drop in the bucket NYT gets out of it.

One reason I'm not a democrat- the bar is in hell. He's not as bad as the current warmonger but he held his own on many of the issues Trump has just amplified. When are y'all going to start having higher standards for your heroes?

You know what they have that's worth paying for? An audience where this mess is being normalized. Someone needs to figure out how to reach these people. If you haven't done it yet, I don't think you can really criticize how someone else has.

I asked my grandmother about it- she watched it happen to neighbors. She said "we didn't know what to do about it". History repeats.

because they aren't on my side. They have the same sponsors and personal wealth reasons to be where they are- they don't give a damn about me. So excuse me from the democrat label- I vote for them because there's no choice, not because they're capable of doing the right thing.

They haven't been my own for decades. They're republican lite and have been for a long time. If their behavior during the election and since hasn't convinced you of that, this comment certainly won't- but no, I'm not going to stop holding them to a higher standard

But they aren't their enemies. Doesn't their lack of strategy for this moment, their strongly worded letter, their inability to actually protect anyone, and their corporate donors tell you that? They aren't the same, but they're definitely on the same side and it's not ours.

They aren't going to do something because they're on the same side. Remember "defund the police"? This is why. Per the Supreme Court, they have no legal obligation to "protect and serve". They don't exist to help people. They're modern day slave catchers.

In fact, it's making a lot of people think we're winning something and the Dodgers are "good" now, but on the larger systemic scale, we aren't and they aren't. It's reality and I'm sorry it's such a bummer.

We have to change the whole dynamic. We will never do that if we let ourselves be appeased with less. It's not hate, it's not an attack, it's knowing things are broken at a deeper level and this isn't fixing it.
