In the Caribbean over 90% of all hard stony corals have been decimated, we now see an overgrowth of macro algae, coralline algae, and Octocorals (woo!) #Oceanchat

Of all of the symbioses I learned about on coral reefs, the one between coral animals and their photosynthetic microbes fascinated me most and turned me into a microbiologist! Still amazed…
