welcome to the back of my head
there’s a difference between saying “americans have broad agreement on this issue regardless of party affiliation” and “leftist and conservative ideologies (e.g., party platforms) are equally legitimate for this issue.” this video is clearly the former but you seem to assume it is the latter.

As someone with both autism and OCD diagnoses, I see them as totally different things. One is an incurable disability, and the other IS treatable; I would take a cure in a heartbeat. I think greater respect and understanding is important for both. But “affirming” OCD can sometimes reinforce symptoms

I don’t get why mainstream news orgs are largely willing to correctly recognize the admin’s claims about autism, vaccines, climate change and other topics as un-evidenced but assume good faith when it comes to trans health. It’s the same structure of manufactured ignorance across all these topics.

we can all look at an electoral map and see which states are consistently blue or red. that doesn’t lend support to your claim that all white southerners are inherently terrible people. glad to see you trying to backtrack on that one, but that’s what i was responding to.

literally my entire point is that it is *useless* to generalize about all white southerners vs all white northerners. there is a full spectrum of progressive and conservative beliefs in both populations and from a strategic POV, you need to pay attention to variation instead of making general claims

this is an insane generalization to make about such a huge swath of the population. white people from the south are ideologically diverse, just like everyone else. leftists are never going to get anywhere if we keep alienating potential allies based on geographic stereotypes.

i think the difference is that there are NOT entire industries supported by patriarchy making huge profits off of telling people to medically transition (if anything, the opposite). there ARE industries pressuring women to alter their appearances. the problem isn’t the choice, it’s the reason.

have we not learned by now that running spineless centrists who sell out marginalized communities for political clout doesn’t work? nobody, right or left, wants to vote for a “republican lite.”

when we see politics everywhere, we can recognize things as issues that should be solved through collective action targeting state institutions. politics is not a dirty word.

of COURSE it was pamela. people like her love to fabricate divides that only exist in a tiny minority of people’s shriveled brains. most gay people plucked off the street would stand with their trans siblings, but pamela wouldn’t know because she only talks to fellow “liberal” conservatives

"X shouldn't be political." OK but it is. Now what?

we really live in a country where one party’s platform is “let’s completely destroy democracy, science, and the natural world” and the other party’s platform is “let’s do nothing about anything ever”
