A radical idea, but if we can pool our money for a pizza, can we please pool our resources for some fucking healthcare in this country?

It was always going to come to this.

People, reared under capitalism, aquire an ingrained willingness to take orders, to bow down before authority. Many aquire a vested emotional stake in all types of authoritarian relations.

I’d explain Marx’s theory of alienation, but I feel too disconnected from the product of my own labor to bother...

"A nation cannot become free and at the same time continue to oppress other nations." -Kwame Nkrumah

True freedom for one group cannot be genuine if it comes at the expense of another’s oppression.

Could be because AI and automation threatens to replace nearly 100 million jobs across various industries over the next decade...

But, probably just an after thought for Microsoft. Profits come first.

What a great headline

If you haven't listened to Proles pod, you should definitely give it a go.

You will learn something. Lot of info we aren't taught growing up.

Hell, all their episodes so far have been fire.

Socialists want the value of their labor to be fairly and equally distributed to the workers instead of hoarded as profits for greedy corporations, their CEOs, and shareholders.

Who doesnt want that?
You know, other than corporations, CEOs, shareholders, and the politicians they pay to condemn it.

Imagine being so indoctrinated you conflate a fascist dictatorship with socialism while capitalism continues to exploit us all.

When is Congress going to condemn capitalist exploitation? Fascism?
Even pedophilia?

C'mon... 🤦‍♂️

Labor, not capital, has always been the true foundation of the American economy.

Capital is, in essence, crystallized labor and exploited by capitalists. The labor movement has always fought for a fair share of the value that workers themselves have created.

Its up to us to continue that fight.

Exactly right, they intentially create or exacerbate the conditions that allow them to exploit communities and segments of the population for profit. It's so fucking dirty...

Its no secret that we have far less purchasing power than young boomers had, while corporations are making record profits.

Because the money we SHOULD be making is the surplus value the ruling class scrapes off the top as profit, while we, the working class, struggle to make ends meet.

By design.

The only way out of this is through Socialism or barbarism. No more corporations, no more wage slavery, no more homelessness, no more class divide. A nation for the working people can change this.
((The grace I try to have in these times is holding onto the idea that one day, somebody’s grandchildren is going to learn one hell of a lesson about how you organize a society from all this.)

(Not any grandchildren of MINE, of course—I can’t afford a family in the 21st Century on retail wages.)

As automation and (AI) technology replace jobs to increase profits, skilled labor will increasingly be rendered obsolete. This maximalist focus on profits and productivity will lead to a significant portion of society feeling useless and left behind by the system...

It doesn't have to be like this.

We could have more public ownership ensuring accountability and a more equitable distribution of wealth and resources, giving everyone the chance to thrive.

But socialism is "evil" and "never works." Sounds like someone just doesn't want you to thrive, and live your best life.
