I’m sure wasn’t ill intended, but would be wise to do some research on the history of tap dance & racism before you use the term in this way. Tap dance was born out of Black resistance and this use of the term does a lot of harm to the art form and those honoring & preserving its history today.

The tap dance community (especially the Black leaders) are exhausted by their efforts to destigmatize the art form in popular media. It’s posts like this that continue to disrespect & do harm. So if you claim to be anti-racist now’s the time to get educated on how tap dance history is Black history

Tap Dance was born out of US enslavement—Black ppl were using drums to communicate & plan escape, drums were taken away, they began to use bodies/feet. In the minstrel era all Black performers were exploited but tap continues to get the brunt of the connotation with appeasing white ppl/“c**ning”
