Head of Food at Eurocities. Linking #EU and #urban #foodpolicy.
Thrilled to attend @slowfoodhq.bsky.social #TerraMadre Europe in Brussels, bringing together agroecological food producers, cooks, European and city policy makers.

A great reminder that we need food systems that promotes biodiversity in the fields and is based on biodiversity of knowledge.

Sorry, is @ec.europa.eu actually kicking off its Agri Vision conference with a manel? Visionary…

👨‍🌾🤝🍽️The demand and supply sides of the agri-food system are interdependent. Action is required on both sides to enable an agroecological transition in the EU.
It's time to do away with siloed policymaking leading to policy incoherence and instead to #ThinkFoodSystems!

“Parkinson’s is a man-made disease.”

Europe’s flawed oversight of pesticides may be fueling a silent epidemic, warns Dutch neurologist Bas Bloem. His fight for reform pits him against industry, regulators — and time.

‼️Only by taking a #FoodSystems approach to policymaking can the EU harness the power of food systems to benefit people and the planet.

Super! European #cities are invited to the #EUAgriVision conference to speak about how they shape #foodenvironments and share the policy measures needed to ensure everyone has access to #healthy #food

Let’s talk about #foodpolicy!

@ec.europa.eu @ricardramoneu.bsky.social @eurocities.bsky.social
It looks like yesterday's call by several EU FPC participants to have food on the agenda was successful!

While the title does not seem quite right, it seems like there will be a session on #FoodEnvironments, #PublicProcurement, #FoodAffordability and improving access to healthy food 👇

Vision lacking 'vision' 👎

In a historic agreement last year, farmers, agri-food industry and NGOs came together to identify WHAT must be done, but today’s @ec.europa.eu’s proposal fails to state HOW.

Europe needs a transformative vision, not more of the same

💡“Hunger persists not because we lack #food or technology, but because we allow injustice to endure.”

🥣The answer to world #hunger isn’t factory farming or tech fixes: it’s confronting #power, #inequality, & corporate control.

The debate on #foodsecurity is raging. The IPES-Food panel weighs in.
Only politics can end world hunger - IPES-Food
Massive political efforts are needed to tackle the causes of hunger. Without confronting power, the harvest will never reach the hungry.

#Foodpolicy measures are constantly tested @ urban level across the EU yet the @ec.europa.eu Board on AgriFood EBAF excludes the urban perspective. This is a missed opportunity to build on Cities' experience to advance EU Food policy
