We lost a legend today. Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa played Shang Tsung in the 1995 Mortal Kombat film and sadly passed away at age 75. We had the privilege of his portrayal on the first MK film but also as an amazing voice actor in the Mortal Kombat 11 game.

So we didn't learn many new details about this except that it's a new system called Guard Flow that gives the defender an advantage. My guess is that you get rewarded if you tap guard in time with your opponent's strikes (rather than hold the button), with a greater reward if you parry a sequence.
I love this sequence - I'm wondering if the guard button is programmed to contextually parry and dodge specific attack animations, or whether there's more going on here.

Shadows of Doubt just added a "Snail Nemesis" mode to their sandbox detective game. Now somewhere in the city there's a snail that will slowly, inevitably, hunt you down and insta-kill you if you accidentally touch it. 😱

One of the recurring conversations I had with studios at Gamescom is when they tried it, generative AI was often a terrible fit for real production workflows.
Iterating on assets was time consuming, getting the right prompts to address basic details a chore, and wasn't worth changing approach for.
