This stunning image of NGC 6302, the Butterfly Nebula, captures a dying star ejecting gas at 600,000 mph, heated to 36,000°F. Hidden behind a dense dust ring, the star’s core reaches 400,000°F, making it one of the hottest known in the galaxy.
