This is great! Just attended a session on the science of learning at the PSMLA conference yesterday that addressed this very thing. Based on the book Powerful Teaching. Giving students opportunities for retrieval practice is like being a personal trainer for their brains.

Yes, that would be great! Will message you my email address. Have not finished the book yet, but will be doing that over the next couple of weeks. Thanks for reaching out!

Grading. One of my goals for this summer is to try to find ways to streamline my feedback more, perhaps using AI to help give feedback on writing assignments. At the AP level, they are the most time-consuming.

Proud of my school winning a Golden Globe! A true team effort. My wonderful colleagues and I are committed to professional development, networking with other teachers, and implementing best practices. Our hard work is paying off.

Great episode! Bought the book at ACTFL but didn’t get around to reading it until this week. Now it’s full of post-it bookmarks, and I have pages of notes. Planning in my 25-26 calendar already so I can implement some changes right away next year, Thanks, Joshua!

I think it’s because I needed to follow you back. It should work now!

Yes, I do! I was not the original creator of it, but I made some tweaks to it. If you DM your email, I’ll share it with you!

I am doing a number of the things that have already been suggested, but an added layer I have used for Gimkit is to create chat mats for the students to interact with each other while playing.

Holy smokes! That’s terrible, I’m sorry. I’ve gotten a few “unsavory” followers in the last 2 weeks since I first joined @bsky.app and i’ve blocked them, but they are still included in my follower count (all 8 of them!); not sure what that means, and can’t find any way to change it.

I love the owl! 😂 I think it does give us clout with students b/c we can be more relatable as someone who is new to a language. I’ve been doing Italian, and this year I got an exchange student from Italy in my AP French class, so I entertain her by tripping over myself, trying to speak her language!
