I am mostly referring to news press pieces, which of course are not part of the scientific literature, but are - by definition - press, so surely different but a twitter comment from a random dinominion...

Fair point. Maybe I did too much philosophy in high school and now care too much about epistemology as a consequence, but the idealist in me still hopes we test our priors against the data before defending positions. Scientist first, academic later.

You know my stance on dino extinction but tbh some online commentary on our recent Science paper makes me think that either 1) we still have work to do, more data to build a clearer picture (which I know is part of science but still..) 2) for some people no amount of evidence will change their minds
