It's a fun rabbit hole to go down; I wasn't familiar with the VMI port of MechWarrior until I saw this and went "hey wait a sec"; my familiarity with the JP stuff is salivating over Kawamori's redesigns for the Japanese box set, most of which end up being predecessors to later Armored Core designs.
