The partner income test perpetuates domestic violence. Victims of domestic violence without their own source of income cannot easily flee a violent partner because the perpetrators' incomes are counted in Centrelink's income tests even after the relationship is terminated.

I'm sure it was intentional. Mispronouncing names was a part of the character of Norman Gunston.

The government through DEWR considers 15% to be an acceptable target.
The implications are astonishing. They would rather keep an ineffective system than fix it.

This proposed measure needs to go.
Any future changes to social security legislation should have a one in, five out rule: for every new compliance measure imposed on social security recipients, five old ones should be repealed.

Other suggestions here are good. One thing I would add is to shave the Kid's arm before applying any tape.
When I had a broken leg in primary school, it was a plastic bag and sponge baths for six weeks.

Good intentions aren't enough to keep us from this slippery slope
It is a very, very slippery slope to start cherry-picking about the rights provided to people, even when you abhor the decisions they make.

What is next? Cutting off payments on accusation of minor offences? Freezing the bank accounts of anyone charged with a crime? Forcibly taking money out of bank accounts to pay fines before a court hearing?

When a government takes away all legal means to support oneself, what's left are the illegal.
When an alleged perpetrator no longer has any point accessing bank accounts, they would become harder to track.
If implemented, this would not end well.

Even if this policy was justified (it's not), how can Australians be absolutely sure that it won't start a slippery slope where further amendments lead to a greater range of untested accusations would allow suspensions without due process? That shifting Overton window needs to be slammed shut, NOW.

Massive overreach.
1. Why not freeze bank accounts? Such offenders usually have jobs.
2. What if the accused person is innocent? Do they get back pay?
A very questionable policy.

We could stop demonising the unemployed, and start demonising employers who refuse to hire unemployed workers. Employers are the reason why long-term unemployment exists. It's about time they were held accountable.
Start by banning unemployment discrimination.

Rex is right. Declaring environmental standards by legislative instrument creates the possibility for legal mischief. Such standards can be weakened or removed by later declarations, or could be too weak when created.
Better scrutiny is needed.

Court-ordered community service and Work for the Dole are often conducted at the same locations.
The succinct question newcomers are sometimes asked at these places is "hours or weeks?"
Hours = court ordered community service
Weeks = Work for the Dole
Otherwise there's no difference.

Before the boundary rope became commonplace, such a catch would not have been possible.
Smaller boundaries were introduced for player safety, not for making interesting new methods of catching the ball possible.
The laws of the game definitely need revision.

Boards of companies that choose layoffs should put their names in a hat. For every 5% of the workforce they choose to lay off, they draw one name from the hat. The names of board members that are drawn are sacked immediately, with no redundancy pay and no "golden parachute".

Allowing perpetual high unemployment to exist is just one of many ways that the federal government has shirked its obligations to unemployed workers.

Lack of disability access is quite widespread. Disability job services providers are apparently not required to be located in accessible offices.
International Year of Disabled Persons was in 1981, 44 years ago. Why are so many public spaces still inaccessible for people with disabilities?
