Not saying Xavi is a better player than Eze but I do think if you’d swapped the transfers then Eze at Spurs this season would have been a frustrated figure on the periphery of games attempting almost impossible passes and overly ambitious shots and Xavi would have been quite good at Arsenal.

I do think Frank’s out of his depth and the points on the board have masked how badly we’ve played for most of this season but I also don’t see what we do with this squad. It’s not just that it’s not good enough it’s that we’ve loaded up in midfield and attack in players who are just too similar.

Gonna have to bell my tattooist because an OUT needs adding.

Literally no attacking tactics beyond Vicario hoofing it. Haven’t got a single counter attack even going. What’s the point in this.

Yep. That was coming.

This is turgid.

Pessimistic prediction. For all the talk of this being a slog decided by set pieces I think Arsenal are a bit underrated from open play and Spurs are massively overrated in terms of the defensive improvement in open play. Think this will be a re-run of Chelsea/Bournemouth and 3-0 loss.

I still do think basically all our problems begin with having zero midfielders at 6 or 8 who excel at passing the ball.

If I had a nickel for every time I’ve seen Spurs concede because of someone tying their shoelaces, I’d have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Spurs midfield is bad because it has no passers in it. For me the bigger question is how do we change that. Because we just gave Bentancur a new deal, most people seem to love Palhinha and surely Sarr, Gray and Bergvall aren’t going anywhere.

Quite like the odd couple Paratici and Lange joint sporting directors. Lange can data and scouting check that Paratici’s mates rate agent deals are solid. Paratici can cover for the fact that Lange has social anxiety and cries every time his phone goes off.

Don’t have a problem with Tel being the one left out from the available squad.
Do have a problem with a process that saw us purchase Tel for 30m this summer, then sign a more developed version of Tel in RKM on loan for a season and prioritise that over Tel’s development.

Weird window. I think Xavi and Kudus both in skill set and position were what we needed. Palhinha will be useful in some games but not others. Signing both Tel and Kolo Muani is a fairly large overlap in skill set and position and still leaves us without a quality, dedicated option at left wing.

Might be wrong but don’t actually expect Spurs to sign anybody else tomorrow. Still imagine we’ll be chucked into the aggregator mix for every winger and centre back who might be on the move mind you.

Bournemouth were very good to be fair to them but for all the last week heralding of Frank as this tactically adaptive genius he got that wrong from the start and the adjustments were too late and only slightly improved us.

Really pleased with the Xavi Simons signing. Giving us real first XI quality in that position and potential for him to grow even further. The process that lead to him being the signing was highly questionable but the outcome is pretty good.

Adrien Rabiot would be the first player to fail a medical for an unresolved Oedipus complex.

It’s obviously a bad look that the club invested a lot of time in Eze (and MGW) only to miss out in embarrassing ways but I’m just not as bothered as most are.

Partly because I’m not as invested in transfers as some are but also I’m not convinced that Eze was the right profile with Madders out.
