Sneak Attack is great for this. You don't need a fancy weapon to deal maximum damage, you just need to know where to stick it.

This made the monk feel way better about the round!

To give a practical example: Yesterday the monk spent a whole round fighting one NPC 1:1 and no attacks connected. The player was deflated and joked: "man we're both sucking." I suggested another narrative: you are equally matched, a flurry of blows, each seeking an opening in the other's defense."

Yes, obviously there is- the snowglobe contains the giant's memory. My players will have to head in and clear a dungeon to retrieve it.

And well, you know what happens with snowglobes when all the snow has drifted down.

They shake.
