Great piece, wish tho that they’d’ve called out dust storm false equivalence; no coming back this time. Butler saw the future with the North migration. Also, in the PotS sequel, Parable of the Talents, we’re introduced to a “Christian fundamentalist man” who’s elected POTUS. Guess what his motto is?

That’s a lot of words to say “I’m clinically insecure.”

No, there’s no ifs about it.

I’m between Everett and Seattle. Pretty much the same here - better than nothing!

Right there with ya on Foucault’s Pendulum. Would add Stephenson’s Cryptonomicon, and to balance these tomes, Gogol’s The Nose and Kafka’s Metamorphosis.

I carefully went through all possible swag (t-shirts, sweatshirts, stickers, pens, notebooks, stuffed animals) & tossed ALL except 1 holey tee I stole from a breakroom 17 years ago. That felt like letting go of an identity I was leaning on & helped but I'm still working on filling in the blanks. /.

I so understand the loss of identity. I've often felt like I stand in front of people as a puzzle missing pieces & I have to smile & act like it's totally normal. Still working on replacing that metaphor. And, I feel all this even though I was wanting to bail on the tech work for over a decade. 1/

She’d seen. They are around the table from her and she is looking at them. Unless they are on plates around her to be eaten :)

Blank check? Choices:

1. Vosges Haut-Chocolate advent calendar.
2. An insanely high end loose leaf tea advent calendar.
3. A yarn advent calendar. Probably sock weight.

PS - I made my husband a sugar-free Läkerol advent calendar this year.

The same-ish for science illustration. Photographs are often too rife with indiscriminate detail to illustrate what is supposed to be emphasized.

There needs to be a recall vote with your name on it. Grow a spine.

He said billion. Cool. So let’s do that math: 135B lbs / 330M people = 409 lbs. per person. So if the average American weighed 200lbs, that means they would lose over 200% of their body weight in a year. I have to say, this does jibe with their math-not-mathing.

outdated and condescending playbook. 3) Work for your voters, not your fat cat daddy donors.
