Calm, clear, compassionate.
Stop scrolling. Listen to the expert who literally wrote the book on tyranny. Timothy Snyder warned us: would-be autocrats use chaos, war, & crisis to shock the public into submission.

Reread the end of *On Tyranny.*

Trump’s playbook is not new—but we *can* refuse to play along.

Excellent point thank you Denise
Out of interest ABC - if the community independents are referred to as C200 independents - then why aren't you applying this to everyone else? - so Gina Rinehart's LNP etc

C200 are a crowdfunder - but the majority of funds for community independents comes directly #auspol

Great advice
I do much the same. You can simplify the process by getting hold of the Pauline Hanson or Clive Palmer tickets and reversing the order…

Never forget! Thank you Jessica. Let's remember all the reasons why they were not re-elected, how the consistently are inconsistent and change policies to suit the weather forecast. These people put themselves first NOT Australians. #carefulhowyouvote

Never forget robodebt; never forget their neglect of older Australians in care; never forget how they left our military veterans out in the cold. Now their sales pitch to Australia is, literally, let’s go back. #Auspol

Some context in comments below.

This is disappointing by the Guardian. If you’re reporting that Dutton has said the Welcome to Country should be respected, without saying Dutton’s coalition has advocated to end Welcome to Country ceremonies, you’re not giving the audience a fair and objective context to interpret these comments.

Do not risk Dutton. I have been at a retreat where the monks from Plum Village in France were so delighted that in Australia we acknowledge our first people as custodians. With Dutton that will be tossed away. Don't risk The Duds.
How good would it be to see Dutton lose his seat . He has been in govt for decades and has achieved nothing positive for this country . He is a war monger, spreads division and has no vision for a multi cultural
Australia.
Don’t risk Dutton .

A brilliant account of Australias opposition leader. Thank you!!!
April 23, 2025 at 11:20 PM
Agree! Everytime the Coalition open their mouth it's always an attack on the government rather than wanting to solve. Dutton is a very poor opposition leader... and very very predictable.
So many issues are being put in the too-hard basket. When something does come up, like the allegation that Russia is wanting to base combat aircraft in Indonesia, the Opp uses it as an opportunity to just criticise the Gov. Instead, both parties should work together to develop an effective response.

Wherever the far right think it's a good idea to persecute, we the people can stand together... Thank you for this image. It's unforgettable.

So amusing... Oh no we r supposed to be serious... Duds at it again. Thanks Tammy.
I don’t think Dutton is convincing anyone as he throws handsfull of sh*t at the PM while, in the next breath, accusing the PM of trying to score personal/political points and running scare campaigns against him.

Well this is good news for Australia.
Devastating ipsos poll for Peter Dutton as barely a quarter of voters, 27%, approve of his performance on the campaign trail with 47% disapproving. This is the lowest poll performance rating & lowest figure as preferred PM of any candidate this century #auspol www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article...

These posts get better and better. I've noticed on several occasions Dutton, to avoid answering, says something like ‘ive not finished what I was saying’ or ‘ive already dealt with that’...what a guy. Yes/Na
Peter Dutton is asked: "Mr Dutton you said it came directly from the Indonesian government, do you concede now that that was incorrect?"

Dutton: "I dealt, I dealt with that a second ago." (he hadn't).

Gaslighting fear mongering con man.

Thank you Lee. I concur.
Peter Dutton says he'll never stand in front of an Aboriginal flag as prime minister. I think we should make his wish come true by not allowing him to be PM. You're welcome, Peter.

Dutton is not someone who represents the vast majority of Oz.
Once more Dutton shows that he cannot treat any international issue with quiet and assertive diplomacy. He runs at anything like a frenzied bull at a gate and damn the consequences.
He does not deserve to lead Australia.
