It looks like a hyacinth. If so, must have been planted by someone.

Just realised these are empty bottles, which explains why they are upright. Change "will" to "was". :)

The 63 port will be sublime. When I joined the Army they served a Dow 61 at regimental dinner nights. After a few dedicated years of effort we had drunk it all and started on the Dow 63. It was a completely different drink, fruity, smooth and just delicious. Still left me with a hangover though!

Is there any link to the use of this word for hills in the north of England, such as Cross Fell?

One had sori which through a hand lens I could see were covered by the saw-toothed indusia which are the main point of identification I believe. Subsequently I found more by the path which were a lot easier to reach! @sylvatica2024.bsky.social @bsbibotany.bsky.social

I wasn't feeling very confident as I couldn't find places which were both very dark and very damp which my reading suggested is what H. tunbrigense needs. Nevertheless I found a few fronds between two boulders.

That was my guess too but I was still hoping it was Cambricum!

The ferns around here don't know where they are supposed to grow. I found another on a mortared wall nearby with yellow, round sori which could be Vulgare. I need to get a microscope and check the sporangia I think. A work in progress.

Can it be used in the field or does it need 240v?
