George Orwell promoted creating metaphors rather than relying on dying metaphors. I therefore open the "Metaphornity ward" to share our birthed metaphors.

Two I made are:

“He was greeted as warmly as a rooster in the city”

“He was as deep and layered as a swiss roll”

The Lighter of Kindling

With your physique you stand tall and proud,
Your muscles gleaming and glistening.
But it’s always the largest to be struck down,
By that force of nature, lightning.

I heard a joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life is harsh and cruel. Says he can only count like 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8….

The Taker of Thoughts

Grab its white feather,
Write with its thick ink.
Surrender your words till you're not but leather,
Then with empty brain you can let your head sink.

The Biter of hands

Wax pools around its form,
Its light pink flesh that it hath lost.
Followers surround it like a swarm,
Their bodies it exhausts.

Summer breaks

Oh tempestuous day, delight of the week,
No hiding inside like someone so meek.
The rain came, washed away the heat,
Now it's cloudy & windy so I feel complete.

Seer

Before you stands a human, yes,
But also more and also less.
They'll annoint you as their one true knight,
Weilding significant might.

Though their eyes are faded,
you'll boldly go forth with arms abladed.
For you know their vision is clear,
And so they'll be your wisened seer.

The Wistful Duo

We meet first the Queen of Hours,
ruling a kingdom but with few little powers.
By her side with not even a lyre,
A talkative horse and Hamfund the squire.

A warning to nosey pests

Nosiness will unleash it free.
So sit on down and listen to me.

Night in night out it crawls around.
If you listen out you won’t hear a sound.

It wants for not,
except maybe your nose.
Nothing can stop it,
But a long lost pose.

Beat root: a poem

Beat root she told me.
So I did.
They don't have eyes nor ears so they won't know I'm coming.
As I carry out the deed they have no mouth to scream with.
But alas they are made of wood and my fists are fleshy and bony.
I woulda won if my knuckles were more stony.

Diphthong: a poem

"How now?" was asked the brown cow.
"You test?" the brown cow did jest.

"Ground pepper?" responded the leper.
"Maturely pickled!" the cow stated as it lickeled.

"Cacio e pepe?" offered the floridian antelope.
"Yes please!" they all shouted through maws of grated cheese.

The Sandwoods were covered in massive cactuses before the Boneheads were introduced. Reborn through the machinations of the CGC they are protected by the Doppelgänger Dunes as steeds and as a vital food source.

Ran @makedatanotlore.bsky.social's Frontier Scum. A really fun weird west RPG system with some really cool mechanics. We all especially liked how rolling a 1 any any gun's damage dice used up an ammo slot. It is the least Mork Borgy Mork Borg hack with its own cool aesthetic that I own.
