Making Families Count uses the lived experience of families to develop training for healthcare staff that demonstrates how effective engagement with families makes patient care safer, more compassionate and improves the outcomes for everyone
Incredibly powerful and moving event for families last night. Desperate that families are re-traumatised by the processes of trying to find out what happened to their loved one following a traumatic bereavement. The courage, determination and resilience people demonstrate is extraordinary.

Moved by this evening's event for families. Thanks to those who attended, shared our trauma and pain and reflected together on the changes Making Families Count should champion. Families know our loved ones best of all. We must be partners in their care, and in the learning if things go wrong.

Can you help? We urgently need funds to provide peer support to families who have been traumatically bereaved and to enable those families to work with the NHS to learn from tragedies to provide more compassionate and safer care. Thank you.

My amazing MFC colleague, the unique Nikki Flux Edmonds has died.
“When I received the report, I was struck by how huge it was and how hard to read. When I told the Trust that I had some questions, they said “Oh, we didn’t expect you to read it” Here's Nikki's story: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Had a fascinating meeting this am with a prospective new member of @Making Families Count. She is a mental health nurse who lost her brother to suicide. She had some really interesting insight too into the mental health struggles of some communities in the UK. Love meeting potential new members😍
