Chag Sameach is used to wish a happy holiday to a Jewish person, especially if you know they're celebrating the holiday in question. It would be unusual & perhaps inappropriate for a Jew to use that Hebrew phrase in response to a Gentile unless he knows that Gentile celebrates Jewish holidays.

No need to be disappointed in Tennessee. The Democratic challenger defied the odds against her by closing to within 9 percentage points of the 22-point GQP incumbent's advantage. (FYI, years ago I lived in Johnson City, TN in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.)
