I’m trying to find low cost, solar powered roller blinds for my home. They’d be easier to close than shutters on my west facing windows. Previous attempts using car windshield cover weren’t successful 😅

Seasonal shading aka trees, prevent most solar gain from the south and west on the ground floor.

The all in one units seem to be popular in Italy. Definitely worth looking into. The downside seems to be noise levels at the moment but that might be down to me just seeing the info for cheap units.

Bad start already. I can’t apply online and have to do it by phone. Phone lines close at 5pm. It’s 5:39 🙄. Time for application so far: 3m17s #PIP

I tried running my boiler at its lowest setting (40°C) but soon realised that it has an additional thermostat internally and only turned on for frost protection, so lowest I can run mine is 47°C.

There was another ventilation geek on yesterday’s Sort Your Life Out (BBC, S5.ep3) when Mr Carrington tested an extract vent with loo paper.

Niemöller inspired the poem “First they came for the communists…”. As well as Jews, Nazis killed disabled people, Polish & other east Europeans, Soviet prisoners of war, Roma, Sinti, black people, lesbians & gay men. One by one the groups were taken. Trump’s gone for all on day 1.
