My hunt to work anywhere BUT my office really should be studied.

It's been almost three years since we moved into our trailer. And it seems I have finally lost the "stay out of the shower" game.
Riley, a black cat with a bit of chonk to her and sporting a rainbow collar, is lying on the floor of a white RV style shower stall. She is stretched out on her side, belly exposed, not a single care in the world that her newest hiding spot has been found. She knows that nothing will now keep her from here, so why worry?

You do not need to be grateful for what you survived, for what you didn't know, for lessons learned too hard. But when you stumble upon a moment of safety, of appreciation, I hope you accept that it's real. That you are worth the space you built for yourself.

I am entirely convinced @sgj.bsky.social upcoming book Buffalo Hunter Hunter will be what heals my post-encephalitis brain. It will be the book that helps me READ again! #BookSky best be ready, 'cause I will be an absolute menace come March 18.

We had a day of snow in my neck of the woods and the way I grinned like an absolute dork through four different interviews. Fortunately, everyone else was excited as I was.
The Columbia River as a snow storm sits low on the mountains. The snow line is staring to form lower down the mountains in the background, and a fog is settling deep in the valley. In the foreground are some trees and bushes with snow starting to stick to the branches.

The miniscule upside to being without main power for 24+ hours is the continuous cat snuggles. Although it does make going out and turning the generator back on a little difficult.

My local library is drowning in holds that need to be picked up. And for once, I'm not part of the problem.

(Anyway, go support your local library. Bet they're pretty rad)

Been referring back to @charliejane.bsky.social "Never Say You Can't Survive" these last couple weeks. Today's flip through felt incredibly timely as I weigh what #CanPoli journalism is going to look like for a small town news source. Everything I write is political at some level.

I got up to check the latest notifications (all from Bluesky. Hi, new folks!) and my seat was instantly taken by Riley, dutchess of the home.

#NeuroSpicy journalism is working on two articles, an interview and the weekly newsletter in your car for the last hour because you couldn't find parking close to the office after an appointment and now you're just stuck in executive function lock.

With fall in the works and winter on the way, #SnuggleKingNeo has been in his element this week. Doesn't matter if it's the brand new chair his "Amma" bought that no one else got to sit in over the weekend or the couch at home I was going to clean.
