📍 Gaza | On 10 July, an ICRC staff member and a PRCS volunteer were injured by gunshots during a joint rescue mission. We are outraged by this attack, which is a stark reminder of the grave danger civilians in Gaza face every day.

On the evening of 10 July, a joint mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) came under attack during which an ICRC staff member and a PRCS volunteer were injured by gunshots. The injured individuals were immediately evacuated and received treatment; both are in stable condition. The mission was launched to evacuate a wounded ICRC staff member and his family who had been unreachable since 4 July due to ongoing hostilities. The previously wounded ICRC colleague and his family members remain unreachable. The evacuation mission was notified and coordinated, and throughout the mission the ICRC was in constant dialogue with authorities. All staff were travelling in illuminated and clearly marked vehicles bearing the red cross and red crescent emblems.

The strength of these rules lies in consistent enforcement and the political will to put humanity first—especially when it is hard to do so.”

Nu har vi desværre fået svar. 14 dræbte heraf 8 fra Palestinensisk Røde Halvmåne, 1 FN og 5 fra civilforsvaret. Det største antal dræbte som Røde Kors har oplevet på en dag. Hvorfor og hvordan har vi ikke fået svar på.
