That is fantastic news!

Bonjour Guy et Les ORCs from blustery Ouistreham. Crossing was OK, and even though we live an hour from the port we stayed the night at the motorhome aire so we weren't driving in the pitch black. Which gives us an excuse to shop at Grand Frais in Caen on the way home! Have a great day, all.

I like them, and find they rarely fall out while sleeping. Getting the correct size of in-ear cushion took a couple of tries. OH didn't get on with them.

Morning Kate and ORCs, from Barnsley today. Had a lovely night with no.1 son and his fiancée, Chinese takeaway and silly card games plus a bit too much whisky for OH. Up and at 'em early for us as we drive to Portsmouth to get the ferry this pm. Have a great week, all.

Yes, by McAlmont and Butler. Although it's more a "fuck you,I'm fine now despite you dumping me". A glorious two fingers up at your ex.

The ferry yesterday morning on that route was pretty empty, loads of space for people to lounge on the benches, but we got a cabin and took our travel kettle and snacks!

Happy new grandbaby! Wishing mum and baby good health and happiness x

Hiya ORCs, y'alright? We're in Salford after a nightmare drive from Portsmouth. Roadworks, accidents, rush hour traffic on M6 - the usual. Daughter greeted us with homemade soup which made things much better. Niece's wedding today so I'd better find my dancing shoes. Have a great day, all.

Just disembarking at Portsmouth. Smooth crossing, cabin comfy, but the "petit déjeuner tradition el" was a bit disappointing. The viennoiseries in the other hand were perfect!

It's the new-ish Guillaume de Normandie, which we've been on before. Quite snazzy. Even the engine is quiet compared to the older ships.

Oh and I've just replied to @siamesecaroline.bsky.social thread literally a minute ago. Bonjour from Ouistreham ferry queue! It's blustery but getting less windy so I'm hopeful the crossing won't be too bad. Still thinking fondly about the excellent moules frites we had last night. Have a great day!

Bonjour mes ORCs from the ferry queue at Ouistreham. Last night we had the best moules frites in a long time at a restaurant near the motorhome aire. Weather isn't ideal for the crossing - a bit gusty - but I've got pretty good sea legs so should be OK. Have a great day, all!

We were part of the "great escape" - retired three years earlier than we'd originally planned, adjusted our budget accordingly and moved to France just before the Brexit gates clanged shut, and we now can't imagine moving back to UK unless some major catastrophe forces us there.

Exactly! A head full of useless facts is always good for something at some time or other.

I'll bear that in mind for next time! Although next week he's off to Singapore to work on another cruise ship so I'm not sure I'll be much help as my Asian language skills are non existent.

It's the early morning ferry tomorrow, but with the weather getting so cold we're driving to Caen this afternoon and parking up in an aire with electric hookup near the port so we don't have to get up at stupid o'clock and drive for an hour in the pitch black and icy conditions. Safety first !

Bonjour Arm et mes ORCs. Mechanic has found the issue with the motorhome cab heating, but parts will take a week to get to him. So we're faced with a cold and slow drive up to Caen tonight and on the UK roads tomorrow. Time to get the thermals out. Let's be careful out there! #HillStreetBlues

Careful - vitamin D overdose is a thing, and not very pleasant.
