This was #3 of 4 in five weeks. I got to teach someone how to sew and I fixed a bunch of stuff! It is a small thing but if we all do the small things, they may make a big difference. Yes, I have pink hair.

Caturday. My weirdo cat. I woke up the other day when she sat on my head.

A great reuse organization I am a part of. With the dearth of fabric stores in the US, more people should use this model to keep things out of landfills. We are a volunteer led organization, with a wealth of knowledge in our volunteers, we teach and model good environmentalism.

There were 3 seamstresses at the Repair Cafe today. It is rare that I meet anyone with the level of sewing knowledge, experience and expertise that I have (I don’t brag about anything but my sewing) but I did today. I, of course, recommended she read The Dress Diary @katestrasdin.bsky.social .

I mean, really. This truck had at least 10 Trump Stickers on it. As if one wasn’t enough to let us all know you are a dumb-ass. Troy, NY. I didn’t get the name of the company but if this pulled up in my driveway, I would say move on down that road. Whatever I need, I will get it elsewhere.

Repair Cafes are saving the world, a few hours at a time. Great Organization. I will be there with my trusty sewing machine!

The back of the dress is important too!

A new addition to my family. Now I can talk to the cat instead of myself. I make catnip toys. She destroyed it in 2 hours. Now there is catnip all over my bathroom floor. She is not a talker. Good thing because I am pretty much deaf. We are still getting to know each other.

From The Winterthur Museum. Kind of appropriate for me. Mending is cool. Visit a Repair Cafe. Even better, host one.

Me and one of my 10+ sewing machines at a Repair Cafe! Saving the world, one garment at a time. My happy place is behind a sewing machine.

Since one of the highlights on my trip to Italy was the Pitti Palace Costume Exhibit and I now have a car full of vintage fabrics, it is back to work today. But, before I go, can I interest you in a cocktail party? Can’t you smell the hairspray and cigarettes? Martini please, dry, no rocks.

Went to the Costume Design exhibit in Florence today. This was my absolute favorite. I wish people wanted custom gowns these days. Then I could stop making slipcovers.

In Milan yesterday. This kind of sums up what I think about the Administration and the American government now. I think the Italians feel the same way.

Italy. A well deserved vacation.

A little re-covering job I finished yesterday. I know it may be cheaper to go out and buy new, but the guts were intact and now only ugly fabric goes in the landfill, not foam and stuffing. Trying to save the planet, delusional, I know, but I keep trying.

Since I don’t write or draw, but I do sew, I will post pictures of some of the slipcovers I have made. Keeping things out of the landfill.
