Terrible loss today with the death of Steve Cropper. One of the real giants of soul and blues for many years, despite always being a supporting player. Sadly, the number of surviving big talents from that 60s-early 80s period is steadily dwindling, as is inevitable, but depressing none the less.

Why are there still "Hess trucks" being offered? Consider: a) Hess no longer has any retail presence, having sold all of their gas stations; b) Sadly, fewer and fewer kids are playing with all kinds of rolling toys; c) Hess trucks of any era have very limited to almost zero value as collectibles.

Eagles firing Patullo is so obvious as to be ridiculous. I know the coaches in the NFL are loyal to each other (Nick S. and Patullo are supposedly besties), but sometimes necessary changes just jump up and smack you in the face. If KP could fix things, don't you think he'd have done it by now?

As I've said many times, if it turns out coffee and ibuprofin are bad for you, I'm a dead man.

News flash: "SpaceX cancels mega-rocket flight again". Memo to self: do not acept any invitation to ride on a SpaceX rocket.

Something to ponder: since 1977 (48 years, kids), Voyager I has covered "only" 15 BILLION miles. I say "only" because after 48 years it is only 0.214% of the way to Alpha Centauri, our closest star neighbor. At best, man MAY someday be able to visit Mars. Other celestial bodies - forget it.

Very sad to hear of the passing of Ozzy Osbourne today. I saw Sabbath at the old Spectrum in Phila. in 1970 (with Mountain and Mott the Hoople). A great power band at that time.

Four today on Wordle 1494. Always tricky when the vowels are limited.

Is there any doubt Trump's penis is his worst enemy? Sexual assaults, marriage issues, and worst of all his very likely frequent participation in Epstein's world of underage girls all trace to his need for sexual gratification, and his priviledged view of how to achieve that. Truly despicable.

My Granddogs Echo (in the back) and Dingo ready to go in the annual Talmadge July 4 Parade (a neighborhood in San Diego). Kids on decorated bikes, baby carriages, lots of dogs, everybody in the red, white and blue. No bands or fire engines, a real family event. This was Echo's 13th parade.

Saddened to hear of the passing of Brian Wilson. The Beach Boys' music, and particularly their harmonies, played a big role in my musical development in the early-mid 60s. As a soloist in bands and choruses, I was frequently emulating their sound. After about '67-'68 their output faded badly.

I just finished a small (6"x6") watercolor entitled "Croce's Farmhouse Privy", a depiction of the ancient privy behind the old stone house in Lyndell, PA (40 mi. west of Phila.) that Jim Croce occupied in '71-'72, his most productive period. I live directly across the street from the property.

Just completed a new watercolor entitled "Main Street Monhegan", a view along the gravel path that is the main drag on this lovely island off the coast of Maine. All of my work can be seen at JoeGrubbFineArt.com.

Random question: why doesn't our Moon have a name? We've named many celestial bodies for warriors, animals, etc. (including many moons of other planets), yet Earth's Moon doesn't have a name. My suggestion: "Michael Jackson", king of the Moonwalk.

It continues to confound me that starwatchers refer to "constellations", which are not actual things, but rather just the juxtaposition of a few stars as they appear from Earth. If viewed from other angles they would just look like random stars, vs. the animals, etc. the ancients saw in them.

Trump nervously laughed when mentioning the "President Musk" talk today when he was addressing the Turning Point idiots today. Such frivolity will not last much longer, I predict.
