A proper 12-month replacement post with decent salary (for UKHE, at least) in modern European history. Belfast is a decent place to live - relatively affordable apart from extortionate pint prices - and I can personally vouch for what a great & friendly School we have.

When suddenly (REALLY suddenly): a 15-month teaching gig at our lovely Medieval Studies group in Utrecht.
- Dutch = pretty much a CSQN
- early middle ages preferred
- the short deadline in no way implies that we already have a candidate in mind so go for it!

It is New Year's Eve. Ghosts crowd the pub's fire, tell stories to stitch centuries together. The year takes its last, rasping breaths. Every flame in the room trembles. The space between tick and tock on the mantel clock seems to lengthen. Hope struggles to be born again. – #CLNolan #NewYearsEve

Sometimes working with manuscripts gets us really, really close to the people from the past allowing us to hear their voices. This is a story of a letter from a schoolgirl to her teacher, written probably sometime at the end of the 9th or the beginning of the 10th century. A thread 🧵 #medievalsky /1

It’s (almost) St Nicholas’s Day! In honour of the man himself, let’s see which version of his story you prefer? 13th century vs 19th century? Comment below! sarahblynch.wordpress.com/2024/12/05/t...
The Original Visit from Saint Nicholas
In honor of his feast day, how about a little more drama than your usually rising clatter out on the lawn?
