Gutted to hear of the passing of former Replacements guitarist Slip Dunlap. Slim suffered a massive stroke that resulted in a Replacements reunion that resulted in a limited edition (250) of numbered, signed EPs that raised over 100k. I am proud to say I own one of those 250.

Heartbroken to read: Nicko McBrain is retiring from Iron Maiden. Nicko suffered a major stroke & has worked hard to recover. As I understand it, the band has been 100% behind him.
Was fortunate enough to see IM twice, both shows were killer.
To Nicko I say: UP THE IRONS! Thank you for the memories!

While I am celebrating Thanksgiving alone with a cold, I have to offer up a classic: WKRP Turkey Drop:

The price we to have our furbabies.

If it was a real child, we would be dealing with nasty diapers. I will stick with hair balls, liter boxes and the occasionally puking feline.
It's one of those days where you run through the house with a pre-puking cat in your hands, but you want him to do it on the tile floor in the bathroom and not the carpet. Fun for everyone!

Alfed Hitchcook & the three investigators was not only a childhood love, but a focal point of the first group encounter I had @ my 1st Bouchercon that made me realize I had found my tribe. Bcon 1998! Crime fiction community is the best!
Sorry Hardy boys, 3 Investigators were the best!

My mother worked hard to expose to me many things, but the best was our libraries. Started my love of reading. I now own 3000+ books and adore those that give us these stories.
Much love to our story tellers and our librarians whose work gives us the chance to discover these works.
I love libraries. As a latchkey kid I basically grew up in my local library. As an adult, finding my books in the library is how I knew I had made it as a writer. Please use and support your local library, they're incredibly important to your community and to the country.
I always love when authors speak approvingly of libraries.

I mean, I'd LIKE to be able to buy a copy of every book I've ever liked, but in between financial and spatial requirements ...

So, yeah, the library is where it's at. For this, and many other reasons.

Metallica were spot on. We pay a fortune today on tickets and memorabilia because that is how bands make a living today.
I have seen several fantastic younger bands I grew to love (Diemonds, Last Vegas, The Biters) go away because they could not make a living.
Like the music, buy the music!

If ever we needed a new national holiday, National Espresso Day should be it.

Before I tackle @louberney.bsky.social 's Double Barrel Bluff (Welcome back Shake!), I am revisiting The Long And Faraway Gone because it is so damn good it is on my list of books to reread to remind myself how great the genre is.
