I enjoyed it but I think how much you get out of it depends heavily on how familiar you are with the other games. Each scenario (most games get 3) messes with a scene from the originals in a funny way, sometimes things cross over etc. Probably not worth a replay on their own, but fun as part of one.

Which is good, because all the sidequests and the Tickington stuff made it the longest game (aside from FFXIV which plays by very different rules) I've ever finished, "beating" Cold Steel 1 with a majority of its npc dialogue by almost 10 hours for a total of, err... 104. That sure is a number.

That would... make a good deal more sense than anything I had come up with. (My thoughts were more along the lines of "Do they ever open that place up for tourists on weekends who would need the signs? But surely they'd have a guide with them anyway?" ^^;; )

I've been trying to wrap my head around this since yesterday. So, okay, it's silly that it's a paper sign and it looks tacky but uuh... why is it there? Is there supposed to be a sign like that? If yes, where did it go? If no, why is there one now? I'm so confused.

Yeah... On the one hand, I always want more time (and energy), but on the other, there's also always something to look forward to.

The only positive thing I'd ever heard about act 3 was that the boss battles are fun & it's baffling. Following up on so many earlier plot threads is so fun! Development fought for in act 2 echoes through act 3, still meaningful. New plot beats connect the world even more. *And* the battles are fun!

Yeah same. Statements like "It has no plot," "Balthier is the only good character," "The game just plays itself," and "It's just a Star Wars rip-off" were extremely common; I think the remaster causing people to revisit is was when things turned around for it. Being a XII fan was weird for a while.

Haha true. Part of me is just itching to get to DQ2 my beloved, but by that point I'd definitely need a break from the series amyway. XD
