Once again, the chair of the Tarrant County Republican Party, Bo French, is out there posting racist, violent fantasies about people losing food assistance. When is County Judge Tim O’Hare going to denounce the leader of his party? We can’t let people with this sick worldview run our county.

Texas state representative Nate Schatzline wants to award a local private school for being the least vaccinated school in Texas. Less than 15% of their kids protected from measles as it spreads through Texas. My heart breaks. Little ones at risk and this man makes it a political stunt.

It’s been a rough week for our democracy. So I’m grateful to have started it off celebrating the life of Dr. King with this multiracial group of Texas faith leaders who care about justice. And to see my baby girl blessed by the mother of Juneteenth, Ms. Opal Lee!

Coping with election and cabinet news by simmering a giant pot of chicken stock (pictured) and…uh…nursing a sweet newborn every two hours (not pictured). There’s like seven Costco chicken carcasses in there. Surely no wickedness can prevail against such a quantity of stock simmering?

I found out about the election results two days late because I was in the hospital giving birth and I asked my husband to keep me in news quarantine. (Can you imagine him keeping this from me for 48 hours!?!) Just deleted x and I’ll be here more. Please welcome baby Miriam!
