So Lyal still visits the Exarch. The same way he visits the graves of the men he loved before and lost.
But at least this time, some version of him lives on, and they're together and happy.

Still, he visits. And everyone at the Crystarium knows why he's there when they see the WoD in their city.

The G'raha that came back from the soul fusion was both and also neither; despite (or because of) the successful integration, this G'raha is different yet again. And though Lyal loves him, extremely so, ultimately he's still...not the same person. And G'raha himself feels so, too.

Meeting him again as the Exarch, though he knew it could not possibly be anyone else, he respected the Exarch's desire to hide his identity. And getting to know him as the Exarch was when he truly fell in love.
And then he had to mourn him again, when he turned to crystal in front of him.

Sometimes I think about how wild it must've been for him. Back in CT, he definitely had feelings for G'raha, but as neither ever confessed, nothing developed. When G'raha sealed himself away, Lyal mourned him - he didn't know if he'd ever see him again in his lifetime, long though it may be.
