My husband, who grew up with a TV, says TV made him who he is today. I grew up without a TV and I say libraries, which brought me books, music, knowledge art, comedy - made me who I am today. Losing our libraries is a tragedy, do everything you can to protect yours - USE IT!!! 🙏

Threatened with closure ten years ago, a huge campaign locally fought against the council and won. Three years ago, having been through lockdown and opening hours reduced to a few half days, one day it quietly shut its doors for the last time.

The library that provided a safe haven and quiet space. That my children loved to visit after school. That gave me a lifeline when I thought I was drowning, an isolated new mum of twins. The library was a big part of our community, hosting events and exhibitions.

I would love to visit our library. I am a long term lover of libraries, wherever I have lived over the half century I've stalked this planet. But our local library has closed. It is a genuine tragedy.

For contrast, here's Hoylake Beach, currently thriving, but under threat. And yet, glorious, and a world away from where it was when the local council sprayed it with Roundup (glyphosate), killing everything.
