Today I learned that Ron Schleede died this month. He was a well-known air crash investigator that appeared on many Mayday episodes. My condolences to his family and all of his friends and colleagues.

there were a bunch of people who were going to Canadian universities (either as students or faculty). Two students from the University of Waterloo (my university at the time) were on that plane. There's a photo of the student card of one of them in the wreckage site.

I hate conspiracy theories about aviation. If we let them consume us, we will end with situations like the one below. Air Ontario 1363, an accident that could've been prevented if the conspiracy theories of Gander were immediately nipped in the bud (or just didn't exist).
