I now want the Mets to sign Alexis Diaz, as a bit.
Semien better fits the Mets' stated goal of improving their defense. Also think there's some juice in the bat still.

Stearns gave up a COF who hasn't hit in Triple-A, a middle reliever out of options, and the organization's 9th or 10th best starter for an elite reliever rental.

I understand you're not hiring a premium name midseason, and that his actual influence is somewhat murky with Barnes in the picture.
But this is a great time to fire Chavez. He needs to be gone this off-season at the latest anyway, make him the performative head on a spike.

I posted this before realizing they got Tibbs as well. This is mindblowingly stupid from the Giants.
This is gonna be one of those deals that normal baseball fans will never understand but anybody with a modicum of understanding will see as an absolute win for the Red Sox.
