I think jealousy/envy is certainly a part of it, but not entirely. I think it’s also a thing born out of the patriarchy, as sex work is an industry largely populated by women. But the character limit prevents me from getting too deep into it. Perhaps a chapter for the book I’m writing!

1. Sex workers are actually statistically *less* likely to have and communicate STIs than (sometimes lifelong) untested civilians who don’t understand safer sex practices, the risk factors in *any* type of physical engagement, or occasionally even, basic hygiene.
