Though now I’m concerned that term has been used… gratuitously
November 6, 2025 at 9:50 PM
I use that term for myself because I a) refuse to pick a lane b) am not actually that proficient in any of them (writing/performing music, various arts bits, some writing things) and c) also take interest in like, philosophy or creativity and led “conventional” applications like design, etc.

I assume you’ve looked to see if GitLab or Dropbox have anything? Those are the two I immediately know publish a lot of resources

Sometimes it may be better to use another fiscal sponsor, depending on what your needs and university regulations are on what faculty can do outside the university
October 31, 2025 at 12:44 AM
Also worth being aware that while you can get a lot of benefits with your university acting as a “fiscal sponsor”, you also inherit all their overheads. Do talk with folks who have done similar things or run relevant internal departments to see what’s involved.

everything is as they require with branding and messaging, they can track donors with their existing pipeline, and overhead going to third parties is minimized

Most likely. I know Stanford does, having experienced that. In particular, they’ll probably have their own crowdfunding platform that they’ll require you to use. That ensures the money is handled by the appropriate people, any legal regulations are followed,

Thanks for reminding me about one of my Gripes Of All tTme that I somehow forgot about lol

Cats teach us we belong wherever we say we do. I need this lesson

Absolutely love the design, makes me wish I used Astro so I’d feel justified in getting one & wearing it 😄

Which raises the question, why are they not annotated in some other way? I see they’re marked @internal, which isn’t valid jsdoc. Is the intention @protected or @package? Or do you actually intend something like “FYI this is internal but we will expose it as an escape hatch”?

I can’t help but wonder if *intellisense* should automatically filter _ to the bottom when accessed on an identifier other than `this` - but is that encoding too much nonstandard semantic meaning, even if it is common?
October 27, 2025 at 1:18 PM
Hm, this is interesting. Not sure how I feel. On one hand my gut is saying it’s bucking convention for a “clever” improvement (most people know what _ means, I wouldn’t know what ~ means), on the other I can see the utility of this.

IIRC it was (also?) due to takeovers of verified accounts which were hijacked for scams

Meanwhile, RRR nailing both 😄

Not only will it be more effective, but as reflected in this clip it is liable to be novel and interesting as a game itself! Looking outside of games is itself a rich space for discovering new things that can be done in games, in as fundamental level as mechanics

In this case I was looking at the leadership summit, which is a separate exec thing. Working in the nonprofit space especially an executive summit could be useful for the type of partnerships/connections I’m looking for… or it could be irrelevant because they live in such a different context

Appreciate the insights - thank you!
October 14, 2025 at 11:29 PM
As far as concerns on accessibility, etc as mentioned earlier in the thread, is there any difference? Looks like they similarly cover a pass for presenters but not necessarily anything else, … - or do you think the target audience is different enough that the concerns are different?
October 14, 2025 at 11:16 PM
(Separately, do you happen to know anything about the devcom leadership summit? It makes sense that info is limited due to the nature of the event, but makes it hard to parse how useful it'd be for my situation)

Hey Rami, apologies for the necro. Starting to dig more into conference stuff, and while I can't find precise details, it sounds like DICE pricing is potentially even more expensive. Would you mind sharing a bit more on ways DICE does better than GDC?
