(That line should have read “Especially after a female doctor completely validates it AND locates the source of your pain in minutes.” I had another thought about the male dentist’s dismissal being blatant sexism but I deleted most of it and then didn’t proofread my post OF COURSE lol)

But yeah, highly fucking recommend telling these motherfuckers about themselves because more men need to be fucking humbled at the altar of “you don’t fucking know everything and maybe some awareness of your inherent humanity on that front would do EVERYONE some good!”

Anyway it took an hour (!!) but he FINALLY fucking apologized for not listening to me or trying to locate the exact source of my pain, and I am sure he was as defensive as he was because I called him out in front of the entire dental staff (the office is completely open save a few privacy screens).

I was like I would MUCH prefer we try a new filling over a fucking crown first. Obviously! HELLOOOOO! I am not a dental sadist. I just want you to TRUST ME and not be so patronizing! Oh and maybe do your job—locate the pain source—which she did without my having to beg, for the FUUUUCKING record!

I had complained to my dentist for YEARS about very specific, very weird pain I was experiencing. He barely looked at my mouth and refused to take any action to figure out what was wrong. (What was wrong was a filling was slowly tearing away from my tooth for the past 2 YEARS!!!)

Feels extremely good to tell a doctor, “hey, so while you spent 20 minutes of our last appt belittling me and telling me ‘it’s okay to feel some pain in your mouth,’ the woman I saw 3 months ago took less than 5 minutes to believe me and locate the source of my pain and I THINK THAT REALLY SUCKS.”

No idea what the point of this thread is beyond feeling like the digital world has passed me by since Elon got big mad at my billionaire joke and banned me from the place where I had so much digital community. It’s a weird sense of isolation, even if I’m sure my mental health is better for it.

It no longer feels like being angry and outraged and putting it into words on the internet is helpful to me. Besides, everyone else is already doing so—and we all know things are bad right now. So I do things out in the world. I take action. And yet I feel SO out of the loop not being engaged here.
