State Dept. Spokesperson now refuting GOP and Dem senators’ account of their joint briefing from Rubio - and claiming the 28 point plan IS authored by the US.
Hard to believe several senators would have fundamentally misunderstood what Rubio told them.

I’m confused why it’s important here…

Don’t we agree? For everyone else - for people, like me, who like Zohran but aren’t DSA members and haven’t interacted with him (or don’t have friends who have) - isn’t it parasocial?

It does make him different from most other politicians, but I don't think it's that relevant for most people.

Yeah, I would say that I’m running to raise my own taxes - I know the super rich and I know they can pay their fair share. And that FDR was one of the wealthiest presidents. Judge me by my record in Illinois etc etc

Agree with the VP point, although may be tough for AOC to share a ticket with a billionaire (even though he is pretty good)

Yeah, how well does CVH align with the progressive economic platform (as currently, broadly conceived)? My sense is he has much more alignment on FP and social liberalism.

That's fair, but the vast majority of people don't know him or other politicians beyond the level of influencer

BC is one of the most popular places to live in Canada (and the world). There is incredible demand and almost nowhere in the province has been building enough to meet it.

It's not the *only* barrier - another is availability of labour
In my city there has been an explosion in construction of fourplexes once they made it legal!

Much of current zoning is unfavourable to anything other than single family homes (the most luxury development possible) and expensive condos built in a limited downtown core.
Social and marketing housing development in the quantities needed are both strangled.

Governments are *currently controlling* what housing gets built - through zoning.
First, they can legalize the kind of dense urban housing that we need(ed). Then they can tax more to fund the development of social housing and let the rest of the shortage be filled by market housing built by-right.

The UK is also in a serious housing crisis for the same reason we are - long-term shortage of new housing construction - and it needs to build more of all types of housing, including market housing, to solve the problem.
