Interested in science, especially physics, evolutionary biology, psychology. Hunting fungi mostly not to eat them, a bit of an amateur mycologist. Chess noob. From Czechia.
Dnešní nález (do druhu neurčená voskovka). Voskovky bohužel asi brzy utne mráz, ale vyrazit na houby jde po celý rok.

Cuphophyllus russocoriaceus (Cedarwood waxcap) smelling strongly of cedar. Locally redlisted in Czechia as EN (although probably not that rare on endangered, still one of the "better" waxcaps here). 2nd locality for me.

Not sure what's that (there is one thing that came to my mind that is not known from Czechia and I also got a tip from a pro mycologist who was interested in getting a specimen) but I love the color.

I remember and invitation to a fungi walk with expected distance and time noting that 1 km/h is Fast & Furious for mycologists. (Not using exactly these words.)

Here some "mainstream" Hygrocybe conica s. l. in a good waxcap season (2023). Plus a forest H. conica s. l., I have never seen an other waxcap that conica group in a forest (although it is mentioned for some), conica group three times. I'm wondering if those from forest are different.

These might be Hygrocybe conicopalustris, possibly one of those disctinct species (but I haven't found whether it's proven to be a separate species and if there isn't more) characterised by small size and ecology (wet grasslands / bogs).

From Mycological Memes on fb:
(OP: Does this happen only in Italy?)
Rule 1: Anything looking barely like R. satanas is Satanas (capital S mandatory). Rule 2: Tylopilus felleus (not looking at all like R. sanatas) is Satanas. Rule 3 (optional): R. satanas is S. luridus or something.

I keep getting only these:
November 10, 2025 at 8:19 PM
Rugosomyces chrysenteron (cont.)
It might qualify but it might be also one of the rare but not that threatened species.
I know it from one locality, seen it just once, edge of mostly broadleaved forest (Fagus, Carpinus, Pinus, Quercus, Betulus, Corylus)

November 3, 2025 at 8:53 PM
Rugosomyces chrysenteron (Calocybe chrysenteron)
IUCN unpubl., under assessment, Czechia: VU
Saprotroph on litter in broadleaved/mixed/coniferous forests
Threats: Unclear, needs more info.
Widespread but probably rare everywhere.

November 3, 2025 at 8:53 PM
Hydropus atramentosus (cont.)
I know it from a single log from a prev. descr. locality, observing it 2021, 2023-2025: bsky.app/profile/lunr...
more inter. finds: Arrhenia epichysium, Hohenbuehelia auriscalpium, Agrocybe firma, Dentipellis fragilis, Mycoacia nothofagi

November 3, 2025 at 8:24 PM
Hydropus atramentosus (cont.)
Threats: Decline of firs, age gap in firs, logging of old-growths forests, climate change
I think it almost surely qualifies for NT at least, perhaps higher.
Check Holec, 2008 for info about its ecology in Czechia doi.org/10.33585/cmy...

Hydropus atramentosus
IUCN unpubl., under assessment, Czechia: EN
Saprotroph on dead, significantly decayed wood of mainly fir (Abies) and (to a less degree) spruce (Picea). It prefers wet microclimate - mountains or deep valleys in hilly areas.

November 3, 2025 at 8:24 PM
Hericium alpestre
IUCN unpubl., under assessment, Czechia: VU
Saprotroph on dead wood of conifers, mainly fir (Abies), also spruce (Picea), often larger trunks.
Threats: Logging of old forests, dead wood removal, decline of fir, climate change (decline of spruce)

November 3, 2025 at 6:08 PM
Hygrocybe lepida (cont.)
I know it from 4 localities, one previously mentioned: bsky.app/profile/lunr... (several spots), one from a pasture with common waxcap spp., two from wet grasslands, one of them with H. conicopalustris.

Hygrocybe lepida
IUCN unpubl., assessed: VU, Czechia: VU
CHEGD grassland species, also in bogs
Threats: Decline of seminatural grasslands
Considered rareish in Czechia but among the most common waxcaps in Slovakia acc. to Fuljer et al. 2022, LC in Norway

November 3, 2025 at 4:18 PM
3 localities (5 spots)
From mainly beech forest transitioning into alders around brook (with maple, spruce, birch, hornbeam), on fallen trunk fragment of larch (probably) with Fomitopsis pinicola.

November 2, 2025 at 9:25 PM
Cuphophyllus radiatus (taxonomically seems unclear, not sure about my identification)
IUCN: VU, Czechia: DD
CHEGD grassland species occurring in high quality localities.
Threats: Habitat loss (decline in seminatural unfertilized grasslands, long habitat recovery time)
#mycology #fungifriends #fungi
November 2, 2025 at 8:14 PM
Hygrocybe phaeococcinea (cont.)
This species may be mistaken for some other waxcap species and therefore overlooked but it seems very rare in Czechia, it might be rarer than several species globally IUCN rated as VU

Perenniporia medulla-panis
IUCN: NT, Czechia: VU
Saprotroph mostly on old oaks - fallen trunks, in cavities in trunks, stumps
Threats: Logging of mature forests with oak, dead wood removal, age gap.
I know it from one locality - natural reserve, beech forest with oak.
