I agree that it needs to be a required class nationwide. Unfortunately with the department of Education being gutted and dismantled we won’t see anything like that happen any time soon.

I mean I had civics class in California. I also know it was a mandatory class in Oregon too. I don’t know if it varied from state to state but every state on the West Coast required civics to graduate. I think they dropped the requirement in like 2001.

The party seems to be in a Schrödinger cat experiment where it is both the leftist progressive party of Mamdani that actually wants to unrig the system and also the centrists party of Spanberger that just wants to capitulate with fascists so that their donors can continue to own the economy.

The only reason I ended up registering as a Dem was because the state of California wouldn’t allow me to vote in the primaries as third party. I wanted to vote for Bernie in 2016 & in 2020. When he won the state of California in 2020 I was proud to have my voice heard. Then the Dems railroaded him.

The system is rigged. It’s gotten to a point where it makes no sense to even participate in it any longer. Both parties are wholly owned by an oligarchy.

I’m planning on quitting my job early next year and traveling in a converted school bus to help out organizations that work for a better justice system and worker’s rights. I advocate for revolution but I want to do what I can to fight for a better system. I can’t just sit in this office anymore.
