I think you’ve zeroed in on a very important point. People think government isn’t necessary because everything around them just seems to work, and they don’t realize how any of that happened.

How much of the current Republican ideology stems from having comfortable lives thanks government? OSHA exists b/c far too many workers were killed or injured. EPA exists because there were far too many environmental disasters. FDA exists because the food supply was too suspect in the past.

The fact that this is the only renditioned individual being given attention is a de facto victory for the regime…what is effectively being planted subliminally is that it was ok to take the others. This sacrificial return was baked into the original contemptuous act.
