This is incredible, and although I'm sad because our absence is the cause, I'm overjoyed for the support! I shared this with other Astro folks and we're so grateful for the encouragement from the planetary community! ❤️

For us, it's "travel-related expenses" so if they were going to use M&IE or request mileage or something for being so far from their duty station, then they couldn't get that covered.

LPSC without NASA would be interesting. Most of the FFRDCs seem to have some kinds of protections, but it's hard to know what will happen. Fingers crossed things don't get bad for everyone!

Thanks for putting that in words! I keep seeing the "don't fire the people at NASA because they're our best" posts and thinking about the rest of us losing our jobs because I guess we're not good enough? They don't care about performance, they're destroying all of us.
