Every time I make this soup, I just have to laugh at how disgusting it looks. It's good, I swear!

The weather is weathering today.

Please excuse the suckitude of my phone's camera, I didn't have the good one with me.

I went for a bit of a wander earlier this week.

I went out on the lake this morning to take pictures of fall foliage, but there really wasn't any. The trees are almost all still green. I did see three Pacific Loons and two bald eagles though, so there's that.

Yes, I'm still working on yesterday's photos. I think I will be for a while yet.

I took SO many pictures of that truck (of course I showed the owner what I was doing). Here's another closeup on the left, a slightly wider shot of the actual design on the right.

Some of my photos are turning out even weirder than I expected, and I expected weird!
September 7, 2025 at 2:57 AM
And in the 'random weird abstracts' category so far today...

I'm working on processing photos, but my brain is screaming at me 'No! Nap! NOW!!'

So I'll pick this up later, but here's a random selection of what I've gotten through so far.

I went to the classic car parade, mostly just to scout for tomorrow. Between setting up where I was shooting into the sun through the smoke, and not setting the shutter speed fast enough for moving vehicles, you'd think I was new here! But here are a few whole cars (rare for me).

I should specify that this particular car show is the Queen City Cruise in Nelson, BC. There are anywhere from 200-300 classic cars on display. They shut down main street and a block in each direction on the side streets for the day.

A few more from last year:

For those of you who may not have seen (or don't remember) my weird abstract car show pics, like I'll be working on tomorrow, here are a few examples from last year.

Using one photo already on your phone, what is the announcement tomorrow at 2?
September 2, 2025 at 5:30 AM
In 8 years, I've never seen a Stellar's Jay downtown, but this little guy was enjoying the farmers market, perching on signs, strollers, people...

So I'm standing on my parents' deck today trying to get photos of uncharacteristically uncooperative hummingbirds when all hell suddenly breaks loose among the fish-eaters. (more in alt text)

If you've ever wondered 'what is the longest free ferry ride in the world?', it's this one: across Kootenay Lake from Balfour to Kootenay Bay. There are two different boats that run this route, the MV Balfour and the MV Osprey 2000. This is the Balfour, the smaller of the two.

This year's first full pint of 'magic patio' cherry tomatoes.

Yesterday's random cellphone pic of the lake and bridge really took off, so of all of the many many many pictures I've taken of them over the years, here are some of my favorites:

I didn't take my good camera to Market Night yesterday, so instead here are a few super random photos from the same event in past years. The more crowded an event is, the more obscure my pictures are, because I try not to take pictures of people.

I wandered off for a while this morning.
