Sketched Out: An Illustrator Confronts His Fears About A.I. Art (Gift Article)
The advent of A.I. has shocked me into questioning my relationship with art. Will humans still be able to draw for a living?

‘The hand of God’, 2019. I believe this is a ‘pannus’ cloud. I had just packed up and started to head back for breakfast when I saw this cloud developing. Breakfast had to wait.

A wonderful post from curator Meri @meritadocta.bsky.social :
En su infancia contemplaba el cielo en un charco de agua. Su corazón se prendaba de las luces más simples. Eso es lo que encuentra en la escritura. Eso es lo que encuentra en la lectura. Los libros son como el agua de una fuente. Acerca su cara a ellos para refrescarse.

Triangle is the prompt for Day 11 of #JanuArty #JanuArty2025, and I reworked this picture from a few years ago - and the TransAmerica building again. #Photography #BlackAndWhite #Monochrome

I took a different direction with the Day 14 prompt of Plant, and went for this industrial plant rather than the green variety for #JanuArty #JanuArty2025. Loved the shaped of these multiple empty gas holding tower supports - another from Lisbon, Portugal.

#JanuArty #JanuArty2025 Day 7 #marks. I call this "indelible". The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wanted this mark to endure, apparently.

#JanuArty #JanuArty2025 Day 11 #Triangle Well, it started simply as an exercise in surreal geometry, then I felt it needed to be covered in grass.

#JanuArty #JanuArty2025 day 15, a curious #animal in the Museum of Natural History, London. Although I don't think AI is inherently/always an evil, I'd like to point out that none was used here. One of my favorite projects. One may wish to seek out Ivan Krylov's 1814 fable "The Inquisitive Man"

“Good day, sir. I’d heard you’d recently come into possession of some bread. I see that I was not misinformed. As it so happens, I too enjoy baked goods. Might you be persuaded to part with a small percentage? I would of course offer fair compensation at the current market rate.”

To make up for mis-naming the Black-crowned Night Heron yesterday, I'll try and make up for it by sharing this short video clip taken a little later in the evening. For some reason the theme from the Pink Panther plays in my head when watching this.
