When the heroes are invited to a fancy party they witness to a sinister murder. Identified as suspects, they must solve the mystery, track down the killer and link the incident to the strange happenings about town.

There are people who will do a fully colored character drawing for $20, which is totally affordable. I dislike when people act like artists are outlandishly expensive.

This is good advice. I would also extend this to npc and character interactions. Try to convey some of their subtle behaviors, perhaps mention their perfume, or a general feeling one might pick up.

This is excellent, and we're announcing that we're stealing this idea for all future publications.
A little ship from our game book, but it could be applied to any TTRPG. Using "ai" to slop together TTRPG character portraits is becoming all too popular in the hobby and commissioning an actual artist isn't even that expensive for this sort of thing.
