Last week I heard a man let out such a gutteral scream I assumed someone on a nearby construction site had lost a limb, but then it happened 2 weekdays in a row at 8:00AM sharp so I’m thinking this is just how this man chooses to start his day and honestly, I get it.

Was reading a book about #BeneficialInsects when this parasitic wasp landed beside me. Later bumped one of those little clay jugs potter wasps build while moving a board and was treated to a very macabre scene. Good to know my garden will be well-guarded.

I guess I can see why they want to get rid of all that race stuff in school textbooks. A curious student might discover upon further reading that their grandparents were hate-crazed lunatics.

Making your first cross-town trip on your still-new e-bike to absolutely load up on $1 books is a bad idea, says my skinned ankle and very swollen, contused calves. #Cycling with panniers from now on 😅

Fried rice made with Florida betony my sis dug out of her compost pile. Why fight the weeds when you can #EatTheWeeds?

The only copy of “It Can’t Happen Here” that I could find is from 1935, and the musty smell of its age-tanned pages only adds to the timeless quality of its sardonic message: our fundamental human nature does not change.

My sis sent me some choice shots from the family property. Judging from the snake party happening in the swamp magnolias, #AlabamaWildlife is waking up!

Put some #floridanative spiderworts in a bud vase with the holdouts from my V-day bouquet and some less native (but tasty) red sorrel. Even “weeds” can be wonderful.

I just read “Address Unknown”, in which a Jewish man’s best friend who moves to Germany quickly goes from being suspicious of Hitler, to passionately defending his cruelty towards his friend’s loved ones as merely the labor pains required to birth a new nation. This is a late-stage cancer.

Early spring in Pensacola is a sunny 65° on your morning bike ride to the library, a cool breeze through open windows as you make lunch, a book in a sunbeam until the sky darkens, and a cup of hot chocolate when you wake from your unintentional nap to chilly gusts and the sound of rain.

Was it all the casual pipe smoking? The lack of parental oversight? The bikes? What is the ingredient that makes a cherub-cheeked 14-year old a Fortnite addict in one generation and a committed after-school anti-Nazi arsonist in another? Can we add it to the water supply?

Already doing mending on the front porch while sipping tea and doing the “how y’all doin beautiful day ain’t it” with everyone who walks by and I’m not even 40 yet.

Fully expected “4-6 inches” to be more like 2. In fact, it’s closer to 7. Unbelievable!

Left Texas after two historic winter storms and *this* is my first winter in #Pensacola 🙃

Just hypothetically, what would you do if your new house’s heat pump worked great but also sounded like a raging case of tinnitus?

Three months of diligently tending my plants and finally I am rewarded with 5 jalapeños and 1 bell pepper the size of an egg.
