Jacob, he/they/it, 27. Mostly FFXIV some DA and occasionally a BNHA relapse. Certified Themes Enjoyer. Estrogen wouldn't have saved her but could we try anyways. Luluzon Nanazon/V'rahlie Obha/Cosmin Dawagiin, Jenova.

anyways both of these traits are why she fucks prosymnus
November 24, 2025 at 12:19 AM
which is a joke obviously but stacks with so many moments of her shirking agency. up to and including rejecting the seat of emet-selch. its easier to simply never be in a situation where you have to think about the ramifications!

theres also that sardonic streak. i think a lot about her waving off our thanks in shb with oh no dont worry! i dont know if im in doing this of my own volition, so i also cant be held responsible for the consequences
November 24, 2025 at 12:19 AM
on an interpersonal level shes good shes kind she makes people feel included she takes genuine interest in the lives of others and is so compassionate. but the fact remains she is very reluctant to move from a status quo. even one thats inexorable
November 24, 2025 at 12:19 AM
the bedrock passivity of the character remains one of her most important traits to me i dont think shes much of a systems thinker! she assumes thats meant for people smarter (*and who want to live more) than she is

girl dont laugh at him hes not joking
November 23, 2025 at 11:09 PM
and on the heels of the BLOODY BANQUET some of the smartest political theater this games ever given us? jail. prison.
November 23, 2025 at 7:24 PM
absolute resistance towards even a hint of gray morality creates some of the dumbest limpest political writing the series has ever produced. its not until the patches we get a hint of any kind of conflict that might make you stop and think for a second and its swiftly brushed away

6. heavensward. genuinely every time i replay it it gets worse and its incredible how much it continues to get away with it. best thing it has going for it is its premise and it seems almost embarrassed about it. like ohhhh you dont want to hear about our little ol theocracy : ) lets go roadtripping
November 23, 2025 at 7:24 PM
4. dawntrail. its a lot of really interesting ideas that kind of struggles on execution. i think its much better composed than it gets given credit for, and that people often dislike it for the wrong reasons. but it needed more time to cook and possibly a more experienced script supervisor
November 23, 2025 at 7:24 PM
but i think what unites both of them is that despite having a very middling experience with both on the first run through, every time i replay both i find something new and interesting to turn over in my brain

arr is its equal and opposite! meandering character light storytelling set inside this incredibly rich environment subject to a million different fascinating material conditions. Its Oops All Setting
November 23, 2025 at 7:24 PM
personal enjoyment plays a big role here. again, realpolitick worldbuilding guy, shb kind of rips you away from eorzea and offers you a much smaller much less dense world to study. in its place it offers up tight incredibly well composed emotional theater, but i always miss the Setting
November 23, 2025 at 7:24 PM
3. i spent a long time looking between arr and shb and realized they are functionally tied for me
November 23, 2025 at 7:24 PM
so it simply does not feel right shifting it any lower

2. endwalker. my flawed flawed flawed darling. genuinely some of the most inexcusably slow and bewildering sections of msq but those moments coexist with storytelling ill be thinking about for the rest of my life. endwalker levelled me the hell up on the writing front
November 23, 2025 at 7:24 PM
it was such a massive step forward in terms of both theme density and character writing that it immediately made me re-evaluate my relationship with the game as a whole and let me start approaching its writing choices with infinitely more good faith (even if stb patches didnt always reward it)

1. stormblood numero uno. took the elements of the story i was most curious about and not only went in-depth on them but with genuinely smart, intellectually curious, and ideologically earnest writing. base expac especially there's never a moment im not enjoying myself
November 23, 2025 at 7:24 PM
i'll also be going off of personal enjoyment priority rather that "objective quality" at points
