he tends to afford agott and richeh a fair bit of space, likely because he understands he wasn't going to be very responsive as an angry motivated kid himself! while tetia and coco get more of his playful side

i dont think its a binary thing. each girl connects with their mentors in different ways and over different traits. but i do think this lens adds an extra layer for me for how qifrey interacts with all of them

contrast this with richeh and agott who both tend to lean on magic as a tool of identity expression. its a way of declaring themselves and their worth to the world around them, something thats very in keeping with young qifrey.

olruggio's grown a little world wearier but in terms of principles he leans very heavily on the purpose of magic as being For Other People

if you want my elaborated thoughts i think that coco and tetia are both deliberately analogues for olruggio in childhood. theyre unfailingly helpful, prone to internalize their failures to help deeply, and generally grounded and easy going
adding this to the tetia takes after him most of the 4 apprentices folder

it wasn't an attraction that could exist without challenge. v'rahlie was coming off of a very painful breakup, urianger was in the midst of her very complicated situation with thancred AND the exarch. but it really was like a switch got flipped for both of them

post transition i do think urianger was probably cherishing some secret hopes that she would at least get a little Look out of it. its natural its normal to want to know! she was not expecting her to look like she got hit on the head with the hammer. or to feel like it herself.

v'rahlie liked urianger fine arr-stb she just also never really got the chance to see outside that coworker bond. she's very extroverted and frank and physical in a way urianger shies away from. much more so when you realize you're getting a crush on your lesbian coworker and feel guilty.
