Halfway through watching Frankenstein and I have 2 thoughts:

1) Modern films look ugly as fuck
2) People saying this is Oscar-worthy must have watched about 5 films in their lifetime

Related: still buzzing from Turnstile last Wednesday. Being in the pit and experiencing Birds live will forever be etched in my brain.
Never expected to hear a hardcore/post-hardcore band on mainstream radio I in 2025 but I’m here for it.

For the first time in about 5 years I feel excited about music again. Not sure if it’s because the AM algorithm is better than Shitify, but I’ve found so much stuff I connect with over the past 6 months. Feels good.

Love a slow Sunday looking for records and then enjoying them back home with a coffee. Big Title Fight fan so pleased to nab these.

Every friend of mine who was married pre-covid has since divorced.

All that money they made me waste.

A top 5 gig for me. The whole venue bouncing, people crowd surfing everywhere, not a soul standing still. Total chaos in the best way. You could feel how tight the band are, no egos, just one unit with the crowd.

Had a blast last time, can’t wait to hear the Never Enough songs this time. #Turnstile

I feel like this place is as good as it’ll ever get. Which is ok, it’s nice enough and pleasant, but with such small engagement and low post volumes it’s all a bit… pointless? I feel most social media (in its current form) has run its course.

Had no intention of buying any records this month but @ralenthall.bsky.social gave me FOMO. Three albums that mean a lot to me in different ways (also picked up Clarity again (my all time fave album) as I damaged my other copy…)

Turnstile this week. Haven’t been this excited about a gig in a long time. No doubt I’ll feel like a grandad there but I can’t wait.

Having a great time in Madeira. Escaping hellhole UK and entirely switching off from the news has been a joyous.

Unexpected shot of the moon on my way back down from a hike last night. Pulled the car over and whipped my camera out. #Madeira

Starting my morning with a fresh walk, decent coffee and Frightened Rabbit on the headphones. I knew Scott, still extremely sad that he’s no longer here.

This is usually a quiet time of the year for me but I have trips to Madeira and Albania booked, an overnight stay at Snowdonia, Turnstile and two London visits between now and the end of November. December will be hermit month.

First watch of #AlteredStates last night. Lots of fun. Had some pretty trippy dreams after though.

Tough week with Huck having an op. I may need to cancel my Madeira flight next week but we’ll see. Going to order a rare takeaway treat and binge some films tonight.

Gutted to hear about Drew Struzan. His posters filled me with excitement and awe as a kid. A far cry from the AI-generated junk we see today. They’ll always remind me of the wonder those films gave me growing up.

I haven’t listened to AFI much since 2006’s Decemberunderground, but their new album is very different. Hints of The Cure and Joy Division.
