Dorothy: Ma, I have a feeling you’re lying.
Rose: Dorothy, be positive.
Dorothy: OK, I’m POSITIVE you’re lying.

Gotta love The Golden Girls 🤣

I used to think I had to work twice as hard to prove myself as an autistic person.

Now, I’m realising I deserve to work in places that don’t make me feel like I have to prove my worth at all.

(4/4) It’s also about acknowledging the barriers we face every single day.

If we truly want to celebrate neurodiversity, we need more than awareness. We need understanding, acceptance, and real change.

(3/4) Where “laziness” is a label thrown at you when, in reality, you’re just struggling to function.

Where masking your true self is the expectation. Being openly autistic isn’t always safe.

Neurodiversity Celebration Week isn’t just about recognising strengths.

(2/4) Because we have our challenges. And what people don’t always understand is how exhausting it is to exist in a world that isn’t designed for you.

Where you constantly make accommodations for others, but they rarely do the same for you.

(1/4) This week is Neurodiversity Celebration Week.

I could talk about my achievements. My successes. But that’s not what I want to focus on.

I want to talk about the struggles of being autistic.

The bottom line is, in life, sometimes good things happen; sometimes bad things happen. But, honey, if you don’t take a chance, nothing happens.

Autistic and other ND people "often face unique challenges in a world primarily designed for neurotypicals, leading to increased trauma risk. In addition, trauma can affect the brain—possibly more significantly in those with unique brain wiring." John Marble, Khushboo Chabria, et al.

Gilmore Girls is one of my feel-good shows. I just love to lose myself in Stars Hallow. If I could live anywhere, that quirky little town is my choice. #gilmoregirls
